The three prices
$8,995: 4′ × 4′, 2-person, knotty cedar.
The entry point for a real built-in sauna. Framing, insulation, vapour barrier, tile floor, knotty cedar walls, ceiling and benches, door, heater, controls, interior lighting, a dedicated circuit with the standard electrical allowance, exterior finish, cleanup, walkthrough, 3-year workmanship warranty.
$17,495: 4′ × 6′, 3-person, clear cedar.
A larger room, clear cedar throughout, same turnkey scope and warranty.
$21,995: Priority 7-Day Build, 4′ × 6′ clear cedar.
The same premium sauna, built in 7 working days once materials are on site and the space is construction-ready, or a $500 credit for every working day we’re late.
Larger rooms and custom layouts are quoted after a site visit.
What moves the price
Size. Every extra foot of length adds roughly $1,000. A 4′ × 5′ sits between the two standard packages.
Clear cedar versus knotty. Clear cedar (interior, benches and a frameless glass door) adds about $3,000 at the same size. It’s the same wood with no knots; less of each board qualifies, so it costs more.
Heater and controls. The standard package comes with a stainless heater and controls. A premium heater package with a deeper rock bed, digital control and built-in backrest is $995.
Electrical beyond the allowance. The standard allowance covers roughly 40 feet of reasonably accessible routing from a panel with spare capacity. Panel or service upgrades, long runs, difficult concealed routing or trenching to an outbuilding are quoted separately, before you commit.
Credits for what you already have. A suitable tile floor, existing framed walls or an existing 40-amp rough-in can reduce the price. We show it as one credit line on the quote, specific to your house.
What’s not in those numbers, and why
No “starting at” tricks: the price includes the heater, the controls, the lighting, the floor and the electrical allowance. The things that are extra are the things we can’t know without seeing your house, mainly the panel. That’s why we visit before we quote and why you get one written price with the assumptions listed.
How you pay
50% deposit on acceptance, 30% when the rough-in is complete, 20% at substantial completion. Materials are ordered within a day or two of the deposit. Payment by Interac e-Transfer or card through the quote.
Why a built-in sauna costs more than a box
A built-in sauna is a small construction project: framing, insulation, a vapour barrier, a floor, a dedicated 240-volt circuit filed with the Electrical Safety Authority, cedar on every surface, and an exterior finish that matches the room. A portable or infrared box skips all of that, and it also skips the heat: a traditional sauna runs 80–100°C with a real heater and rocks, which is the experience people mean when they say “sauna.” If you only want a warm cabinet, don’t buy from us. If you want the real thing built into your house with a warranty behind it, this is what it costs.
